Photograph, score, and review your target.
Use this guide to move from a rimfire or air rifle benchrest paper target to a reviewed, saved result in TargetIQ. A scan or a clear phone photo works. Always compare close scoring calls with the original paper.
1. Load your target
Photograph the whole sheet straight on, with all four corners visible, even light, and minimal glare or shadow. Keeping the paper flat against a darker background helps TargetIQ find its edges. A clean scan is another option. Choose Load Target in the Workspace and select your image.
2. Adjust the image
Check that the sheet is upright and easy to read. Use the Workspace image controls to rotate or crop when needed, then adjust brightness and contrast if the holes or printed rings are difficult to distinguish. Keep the complete scoring area in view.
3. Confirm the target class
TargetIQ can identify a class from the uploaded sheet, but confirm the selection before scoring. Supported classes are ARA Unlimited, ARA Factory, Small ARA, PSL, N50, IR50, USBR, ELEY X-Shot, WRABF 50m Rimfire, and WRABF 25m Air Rifle. The WRABF classes are prototypes. Selecting the correct class matters because its bull layout and scoring rules determine the result.
4. Score the target
Choose Score Target after the image and class are ready. TargetIQ locates the sheet, detects shot holes, and shows a score for each bull and a total for the target. Review the image if detection or alignment looks wrong; image quality can affect the automatic result.
5. Inspect and correct each bull
Select a bull on the target or score grid to examine its hole and scoring ring. Move a detected hole marker if it is misplaced, clear an incorrect detection, or override a score when a close call needs manual judgment. Confirm the correction and check the updated result before saving.
6. Read the results
The Workspace shows the total score, X count when that class uses X scoring, and the individual bull scores. Use the score grid to revisit any bull whose result deserves a closer look. A total is a useful summary, but it should follow a review of the underlying shots.
7. Add session details
Record the date and useful context such as rifle, ammunition, distance, match, conditions, or notes in Session Info. These details help you find targets in History and make comparisons in Analytics later.
8. View stats and comparisons
Open View Stats for the score distribution, an overlay of shot holes on one bull, and group measurements such as mean radius, center-to-center spread, extreme spread, and centroid. What If projects saved shot offsets onto selected alternate classes for comparison; it does not rescore the original photo.
9. Sign in and save
Enter your email in the homepage sign-in box if you are not already signed in. Password-enabled accounts continue to a password field; other accounts receive a sign-in link and an eight-digit code. After reviewing the target and session information, choose Save to History. Keep your own copies of important images and results.
10. Reopen from History
Use History to find a saved target and reopen its details and stats. Saved runs also support comparison over time in Analytics. Check the saved class and session information when comparing results from different target formats or distances.
